How Long Do You Wear a Waist Shaper? To get optimal results, you will need to put on your waist clincher consistently. This means wearing it every day. It is important to bear in mind that a waist clincher may feel a little uncomfortable at first, especially if you’re not accustomed to using it. You may feel restricted, but as you become familiarized with it, the discomfort goes away, and you will begin seeing results.

Dr. James McCoy, a New York-based certified fitness trainer, says that “because of the discomfort issue, one should begin slow, and then gradually increase the number of hours per day in a corset. According to fitness experts, the first seven days are the most important for anyone using a waist trainer. So here is how long you should wear a waist trainer in the first week and what you should do after that;

Day One. Dr. McCoy recommends that when you start out, you should wear the waist shaper for only an hour or two so that both your body and the garment itself can adjust. Within this time, you will also get accustomed to how the shaper works. If you feel any pain or have difficulty breathing, you should make adjustments immediately.

Day Two. On day two, it is recommended that you wear your trainer for up to 4 hours. Again, if you experience any piercing or pinching or if you start feeling nauseated, you might want to remove the corset and adjust it. And if everything is working out well, you may even start doing some light exercises and stretching with your waist shaper on for about 15 minutes. This is particularly important if you’re planning to use your trainer during workouts.

Day Three. You can wear the corset for up to 6 hours on the third day. If you have achieved a perfect fit and you are comfortable, you can start doing cardio for up to 12 minutes.
Day Four. At four days, you can wear your waist shaper for 8 hours or more, as well as, do exercises with it. Because you are putting it on for the entire day, you may notice that you’ll be eating less. This is because when you have waist trainer on, you feel uncomfortable when your stomach expands with too much food.

Day Five. You should continue wearing your corset for eight or more hours at this stage. Most women become completely comfortable with waist shapers at this stage. The trainer even feels like your second skin so you can do cardio for longer periods.

Day Six. The waist trainer will often become a bit loose on day six. This is a sign that it is working. However, if yours isn’t getting smaller, it doesn’t mean that it is not working. You should keep wearing it for up to ten hours, and you are sure to see results in a few days.

Day Seven. On the seventh day, you should still put your shaper on for up to ten hours. After a few weeks, you can wear your waist trainer for even 12 hours daily. While some women prefer wearing a waist trainer at night, it is often recommended to wear one during the day. Do not, however, wear it around the clock.
